Traveling can cost very little to very much, depending on what you want to do, but for any kind of travel, you have to have money. So, how do you save enough to do what you want?
We know saving money can be difficult and take a lot of time, but in this article, we are going to give you tips on how to do it.
You can earn extra cash on the side.
Be creative here. What are you good at? Try to freelance at it on Fiverr or other websites. Know how to knit? Why don't sell what you make? Take surveys, take extra shifts, whatever you can think of that can help you with that.
2. Are there small things in which you spend often, but don't need (and I really mean need, not want) ? Cut back on them! Here are a few examples:
- You pay for netflix, but don't even have time to watch it, cancel it!
- Drink a lot of Starbucks, you can cut the coffee out of your life, or if you fell like you need it, you can make your own coffee at home, you will certainly save a lot of money.
- Get one of those dog boxes every month for your pet, even though he has enough toys for a lifetime, stop getting them, your dog won't hate for it.
- Buy a thousand bottled waters per month, you can buy a reusable bottle and just fill it whenever you need to.
- Order food from restaurants every day, you can cook and take it from home.
I know it can seem like things that won't make much of a difference, but think about it, when you add the value of those things for a whole year, it is crazy how much you actually spend on them.
3. Sell items you no longer use.
You can sell clothing (in a good shape, of course), jewelry, furniture, kitchen supplies and so much more!!!
4. Compare prices before buying something.
Sometimes we see the same item in 2 different stores, but in one of them it costs half the price. So why would you buy something if you are not sure the pricing is good? Compare it online, in shops close to each other or even buy a similar item that has the same function but costs less.
5. Still have a landline?
Ok, almost no one uses that anymore, people have their phones with them all the time, so there is no reason to have one. All it does is make you spend money for nothing, so cancel it!
6. Cancel your gym plan!
Common, you can exercise in other places, maybe your backyard, the park or even your living room, this pandemic made us realise we can actually do these things differently than how we use to. Need someone to follow? Put an Youtube video!
7. Rethink where you live.
If you rent your place, maybe you could downsize or go to another neighborhood, anything that costs less per month.
If you own your place, you could lease it and rent a new one that costs less than what you charge. Another option is renting your spare room on Airbnb.
8. Join cashback programs.
As little money as you get back, it is already something! These programs work in so many places, if you save a little in each one, that makes a difference!
9. Keep the change.
If you never remember where you put your change, you better change that! Think of all the change you've lost during your entire life, that is probably a bunch of money!!!
10. Start a bank account to keep the money for traveling separate.
This way you can assure you won't spend more than planned and the money for your trip is safe!
Of course not everybody is willing to follow all these tips, I personally am not. So the trick is to follow as many as you can!
